ตั้งแต่นั้นมาอนุสรณ์แห่งความรักที่กระทำสืบทอดกันมาจนเป็นประเพณี ทุกแรม ๖ ค่ำ เดือน ๖ ชาวบ้านที่ศรัทธาในความรักของไอ้กะทิ กับ แม่แป้ง ก็จะตื่นตั้งแต่เช้ามืด เข้าครัวเพื่อทำขนมที่หอมหวานปรุงจากแป้ง และกะทิ บรรจงหยอดลงหลุม พอสุกได้ที่ก็แคะจากหลุม แล้วนำมาวางคว่ำหน้าซ้อนกันเป็นสัญลักษณ์ว่า “จะได้อยู่ร่วมกันตลอดไป” ขนมนี้จึงถูกเรียกขานกันในนาม “ขนมแห่งความรัก” หรือ ขนม คน-รัก-กันต่อมาถูกเรียกย่อ ๆ ว่า ‘ขนม ค-ร-ก’ นั่นเอง
