กาลเวลาผ่านมาถึงสมัยรัชกาลที่ 5 แห่งราชวงศ์จักรี ทรงมีดำริว่าจะอัญเชิญพระพุทธชินราชมาประดิษฐานในกรุงเทพกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ ยังผลให้ชาวพิษณุโลกพากันเศร้าโศรกเสียใจกันถ้วนหน้า แต่สรุปสุดท้าย รัชกาลที่ 5 ทรงเปลี่ยนพระทัย โปรดให้สร้างองค์จำลองของพระพุทธชินราชและให้ประดิษฐานไว้ใน วัดเบญจมบพิตร ใรกรุงเทพแทน ยังความปลาบปลื้มใจและสำนึกในพระมหากรุณาธิคุณแก่ชาวพิษณุโลกในช่วงเวลานั้นเป็นอันมาก
